I’ve had dogs and horses all my life, as well as various other small animals along the way (for a brief period as a school holiday job, I even helped a hotel develop and care for a small animal farm at their hotel in South Africa where we had pigs, sheep, ducks, chickens, cows and donkeys to name a few.)
I’ve always had a passion for animals, big and small, feathered and furred and have embraced that passion and taken it on a journey forming my career so far. I started out many years ago working in horse racing as a work rider and groom for a few years before becoming a veterinary nurse at a large veterinary hospital. I worked as a veterinary nurse for 12 years and have been qualified for 9 years before I decided to embark on my next adventure and established Paws First.
I have two amazing dogs, Dilly and Ronnie who are very different in nature but combined are a great balance and round out our little family perfectly. Over the years, I’ve fostered several dogs for Battersea dogs and cats home and helped to find them all amazing homes as well as cared for family and friends pets when they don’t get to go away with their pet parents.
My philosophy is to care for your pets as I would care for mine – and if that means they are allowed on the sofa at home – then they are allowed on mine!
